On March 2, 2012, Dean Ian Holloway, QC, attended the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to launch an exciting and unique new joint degree program with the University of Houston — the International Energy Lawyers Program. This new program will allow law students at the University of Calgary and the University of Houston Law Center to earn both Canadian and American law degrees in four years. Students will spend two years at each school and take courses that will enable them to apply for admission to bars in the United States and Canada.
The University of Houston Law Center is the leading law school in the nation's fifth-largest legal market. Founded in 1947, it is a top-tier institution awarding Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees. The Law Center is fully accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the American Association of Law Schools.
Two $15,000 Nexen Inc.International Energy Law Scholarships are available to students for study in the IELP program.
