On October 18, Professors Jonnette Watson Hamilton (left) and Jennifer Koshan spoke at the second Assentio Mentium breakfast session at the University of Calgary Downtown Campus about "The Continual Reinvention of Section 15 of the Charter." Their presentation spanned 27 years of section 15 jurisprudence at the Supreme Court of Canada level and engaged the audience in some problem-solving to make the point that the Court's latest reinvention of section 15 -- in the Kapp, Withler and Cunningham cases -- is the least likely to achieve substantive equality. Assentio MentiumA Meeting of the Minds is a membership-based community outreach and scholarship program designed to connect the Faculty of Law with Calgary’s legal community.
