Professor Nigel Bankes is quoted extensively in the July 30 article in the Toronto Star entitled “B.C. premier’s stance unlikely to affect Northern Gateway Pipeline,” which links to his July 25 ABlawg post on “British Columbia and the Northern Gateway Pipeline.” In his post commenting on the B.C. government’s requirements for the construction and operation of heavy oil pipelines within its borders, Nigel points out that because the pipeline is an interprovincial project the federal government not only has jurisdiction but has already shown that it is more than willing to use its power to overcome any obstacles to completion of the project.
