Professor Jennifer Koshan is a member of the volunteer legal team for the Equality Effect's 160 Girls project that filed a constitutional claim in the High Court of Meru against the government of Kenya for failure to protect girls from sexual abuse on October 11, the International Day of the Girl Child. Stories about the filing appeared on CBC's As It Happens (Part 1 at the 10.24 mark) and in various Canadian and international media, including the Toronto Star (“Toronto encounter leads to legal battle on behalf of Kenyan child rape victims”) and Jambonewspot (“160 Girls Suing the Kenyan Government for not protecting them from rape”). Jennifer will be speaking to the U of C Student LEAF group about this case on October 30 at noon.
