The Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice (CIAJ) held its Annual Conference in Calgary October 10-12 and a number of members of the law school community were involved, including Professor Alastair Lucas QC and Adjunct Professor Gillian Merriott QC as two of the Conference Co-Chairs, and Judge-in-Residence Justice Lorne Giroux (left) and JD student Alastair MacKinnon as members of the Planning Committee. The Conference was entitled “The Courts and Beyond: The Architecture of Justice in Transition”. Professor Alastair Lucas QC also chaired a panel of “Planning and Design: Legal Foundations and Sustainability” and Professor Greg Hagen was a member of the panel speaking to “Cyberjustice: “Building Access”.  JD student Alastair MacKinnon was instrumental in securing the attendance at the Conference of fifteen students from the U of C and other Canadian law schools.
